Please join us at Virtual UO Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, May 25, 2021!
All events will take place virtually. Registered attendees will receive a schedule in advance with links to join the meetings.
Join forces with your fellow UO students, faculty and alumni leaders to advocate for funding to help make college more affordable, accessible, and equitable, as well as legislation to support the UO and student basic needs. You can make a difference by meeting with legislators and telling them why an affordable college education matters to you. You will also get to interact with fellow students and UO alumni, learn about the legislative process, and gain valuable advocacy experience. Check out this video to learn more about why YOU should advocate for the UO!
You’ll be assigned to a group with a mix of students, alumni, faculty and/or staff leaders to make multiple 15-minute virtual visits to specific legislators. We’ll provide you with a brief orientation, a meeting agenda and script, and give you time to personalize your conversation to share why these funding and legislative requests are important to you.
We’ll provide a variety of orientation training options before UO Day so you are familiar with the UO’s legislative agenda for the session and details of the day.
WHEN
Join us the night before to walk through the mechanics of a visit, meet your lobby day team, and hear from elected officials and university leadership.
