Where: Oregon Capitol Building, Salem, 900 Court St. NE

When: Wednesday, May 8, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Transportation: Free motor coach bus transportation and snacks will be provided to and from Eugene; bus departs at 7:30 am and returns at approximately 5:30 pm.

Join forces with your fellow UO students, faculty and alumni leaders to advocate for funding to help lower tuition increases and other legislation important to the success of the university we all love! You can make a difference by meeting with legislators and telling them why an affordable college education matters to you. You will also get to take photos with the Duck, watch the Oregon Legislature in action, and enjoy displays demonstrating the UO’s impact throughout the state.

Students: While we can’t require that you are officially excused from class, we have created a letter explaining the value of your participation to you and the UO for you to share with professors/instructors. Find the letter here.

You’ll be assigned to a group with a mix of students, alumni, faculty and/or staff leaders to make multiple 15-minute visits to specific legislators. We’ll provide you with a brief orientation, a meeting agenda and script, and give you time to personalize your conversation to share why these funding and legislative requests are important to you.

We’ll provide a variety of orientation training options before UO Day so you are familiar with the UO’s legislative agenda for the session and details of the day.

Thank you for your tireless support of public universities and their students. We look forward to accomplishing our goals together.
